Don’t agonize, organize!

We are proud to tell you that the Trikademiks have now been running for 3 weeks. As we planned it, we daily have to face minor problems in the management of the project.  Well it’s part of any experience, isn’t it?
To start with, our main concern is to make sure the drivers are on time to pick up the kids. Quickly, we realize that they were not too keen on punctuality and that any delay could completely mess up all the organization of the day! If the driver doesn’t wake up, at least 4 kids are late for school, teachers are unhappy and it is quite a bad start for the whole system…So as you understand we do rely a lot on our drivers and they are very important for the success of the project!

Because we love competition, we decided to challenge them with punctuality and attendance by settling down an “employee of the month” system. With the help of Ernest, Instinct’s project manager, and Gideon, the team manager, we presented them with the system and it is already a success!

Talking about the drivers, I realize I did not introduce them to you… Meet them through their licenses ! (you can measure how organize we are ).

I’ll also share with you their training and work manuals with the does and don’t. Because the drivers are illiterate, we had to make manuals with pictures in order for them to understand it.

This was actually really appreciated by the community who realized the importance we gave to their training and implication in the project… Those youths have never received a training before and for most of them (and did not attend school), this is their first ever fixed job.

Employing people who have never worked is a challenge that we wanted to take up as much as seeing the kids going to school… We sincerely believe that by giving responsibilities to people who were never offered any before, you can fundamentally change their lives and that of their community.
